How events are chosen

Every listing here comes from the organizer's own published event page — a date, start and end time, venue and registration link that we can point to. We do not copy listings from aggregators, guess at recurring programs or publish a date that the organizer has not confirmed. Each event shows when we last checked it, and times are always shown in Eastern time (America/New_York).

Most listings come from the institutions that anchor cultural life in and around the neighborhood: Wing Haven and its garden programs, Mint Museum Randolph in Eastover, and the Gambrell Center at Queens University. The gardens and culture guide explains how each venue handles admission and access.

What we list — and what we leave out

We list public programs that a visitor or resident could reasonably attend: garden programs, museum talks and openings, performances, seasonal gatherings and community fundraisers with published registration. We leave out private functions, members-only club events, school events that are not open to the public, and anything whose only evidence is a social post or a third-party calendar. If an organizer marks an event cancelled or postponed, the listing changes to say so rather than quietly disappearing.

Events are dated and short-lived; the neighborhood's institutions are not. For lasting context on the places that host them, read the history of Myers Park, the architecture guide and the directory of researched places.

When an event ends

Past occurrences leave this feed automatically once their end time passes. Their individual pages remain as dated references and say clearly that the occurrence has ended, so an old link never reads as a current recommendation.

Before you go

The organizer controls tickets, capacity, weather decisions, cancellations and access. Open the official event page on the day, confirm the venue entrance and parking guidance, and allow for the actual drive or walk from where you are starting. Saving an event to your plan keeps it in this browser only; it is not a ticket or reservation.

When there is nothing on

Quiet weeks are normal. Our weekend plans and four evergreen itineraries — a garden, then lunch, art and an early dinner, books and coffee and park time and a café stop — work any weekend. The things to do guide and parks guide cover what is always open to the public.
