Dilworth is older, denser and more walkable, with smaller lots and a real high street. Myers Park offers more land, a wider architectural range and a stronger canopy. Neither is the better neighborhood in general; they solve different problems.

Walkability is the real dividing line

East Boulevard gives Dilworth something Myers Park does not have: a continuous commercial street you can walk to for dinner, coffee and errands. Myers Park's commercial life is concentrated in a small node on Selwyn Avenue — see Selwyn Avenue — with most shopping a short drive away on Park Road, Providence Road, or in SouthPark. Dilworth's bungalow stock sits on tighter lots, which caps how large a house can reasonably become. Myers Park's parcels are generally larger and far more variable, which is why the neighborhood supports both modest houses and estates.
