What we collect

Most of this site requires no personal information at all: browsing the directory, reading the journal, or exploring an other place guide does not create an account or a stored profile. The private editorial forms used on contact, suggest a place, submit an event, and collaborate store your name, email, official URL, location, proposal, any supplied event date, and your consent checkbox in our backend for editorial review. The newsletter registration stores only an email address and consent, as interest only — email delivery is not active, and registering does not sign you up to receive any emails yet. None of these records are publicly readable; they exist solely for our editors.

Saved plans

The saved plan feature, built from places and events you add while browsing, is stored only in your own browser's local storage. We do not see it, store it on a server, or require an account to use it. If you use the share-link feature, the generated URL encodes the public place and event identifiers in your plan so you can send it to someone else; it does not transmit any personal information about you.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful. This does not identify individual visitors and is not used for advertising or profiling. See our cookie policy for what, specifically, is stored in your browser.

Editorial independence and disclosure

Profiles on this site are researched by our editors from public and primary sources, not firsthand reviews, and the weekly journal is produced with AI assistance under human editorial review, both as described in our editorial standards. Separately, the Peters businesses referenced throughout the site are disclosed relationships, not personal data about you; see the advertising disclosure page for how that works.

Third-party links and embeds

Pages on this site link to government agencies, licensing boards, and other third-party resources, and some pages may embed a Google Map for a confirmed public address. Those destinations have their own privacy practices, which we do not control and which are not covered by this policy.

Use the private editorial form on the contact page to request access, correction, or deletion of a submission or newsletter registration. We retain submissions while needed for review and recordkeeping and do not promise a specific response period.
