Submit an event
Something happening nearby
Send a dated event with an official organizer page, actual venue and registration information. Submissions remain private until verified.
What we consider
We list real, dated events in or near Myers Park with an official organizer page we can link to: markets, concerts, garden tours, school and church open events, club meetings, and civic gatherings. We need an actual venue address and, where relevant, a registration or ticketing link, so the listing in our events calendar is actionable rather than vague.
Timing
Submit as far ahead as you can. A confirmed event with a known date and venue is far more likely to be added than a placeholder for something not yet scheduled. If you are proposing an ongoing outing rather than a single dated event, plan your weekend and our itineraries may be a better fit, or consider suggest a place if it is really a standing destination.
How review works
An editor confirms the organizer page is official, that the date, time, and venue match what is publicly posted, and that the event is open in the way you describe. This follows the same sourcing discipline set out in our editorial standards.
What gets published
Verified events appear in the public events calendar with their date, venue, and a link to the organizer's own page for tickets or registration — we do not sell tickets or collect RSVPs ourselves. Readers can add a listed event to their own saved plan, which lives only in their browser.
What we will not publish
We will not list an event we cannot verify against an official source, one without a fixed date or venue, or one that is really private or invitation-only despite how it is described. Paid promotion does not buy a listing; see our advertising disclosure for how commercial relationships are handled generally.
After you submit
Your submission is stored privately for review and is not published or shared, consistent with our privacy policy. Need to correct a date on a published event, or follow up on your submission? Use the contact page.
What makes a strong submission
Give us the event name exactly as the organizer lists it, the specific date and start time in Eastern time, the full venue address, and a link to the organizer's own event page rather than a social media post alone, where possible. If registration is required, include that link too, since we send readers there directly rather than collecting RSVPs ourselves.
Example of a good submission
"The Myers Park garden club is hosting a plant swap on [date] at [time] Eastern at [venue address]; details and registration are here: [official organizer URL]." That one sentence gives an editor everything needed to confirm the listing against the organizer's own page before it goes live in the events calendar.
Recurring and seasonal events
If an event repeats — a weekly market or a monthly concert series — let us know the recurrence pattern as well as the next confirmed date, since we publish individual dated occurrences rather than open-ended recurring entries. For a multi-week series, the organizer's own page is usually the clearest way to confirm every date, so include it even if you have already listed the first one.
